Needed something that wasn't a screen and wasn't exercise. Found this at the end of last year after a rough few months. First session I just worked through the practice surfaces without a goal. Second session I made something. The making was the point, not the thing itself. What I noticed was that I couldn't think about anything else while I was doing it, which turned out to be what I was looking for without knowing that's what I was looking for. I've been doing it two or three times a week since January. I've made a set of mugs, a few wooden boxes, a ceramic tray. The ones I've given away are the ones I'm proudest of.
I switched from a corded Dremel setup I'd been using for a couple years. The detail work on this is noticeably cleaner. First week felt wrong because the weight and grip are so different from what I was used to. By week two it clicked. Four stars because of that adjustment period, not because anything is actually wrong with the pen.
It started with a cutting board for a housewarming. Then a flask. Then glasses for a bachelorette. The pen holds up batch after batch. I've had it for close to six months and it runs the same as the first day.
